So few months ago I felt a wobble in my mental and tried to handle it on my own. That went bad I ended up last weekend trying to check into mental hospital. They didn't feel that's what I needed and I'm under mental health crisis team now to help me. My daughter stayed all week with me but needs to go home for a bit she's married and he's been so understanding about her staying with me. But I don't want to be alone it scares me.. I don't know what is causing all this maybe medical ainexity I'm not sure.. I just need to get it all out.. I can't tell her please don't go cause she misses her husband. The docs have given me meds for during the day they make me sleepy and emergency pills if my ainexity takes over I can take one. But it adds to the sleepiness and fear.. so I may be on here on and off today sounding a bit crazy I'm not I'm just scared..
Hi Frazzled
I'm sorry to hear that you are having a tough time at the moment. Well done that you recognised that you needed a little extra support and went to hospital.
I hope it has helped to get it all out on here. You are welcome to be on here as much as you need to so please don't worry. Don't forget that the Support Line is there as well until 8pm.
If at any point you are struggling please do also give your mental health crisis team a call- it is what they are there for. Also NHS111 can be contacted 24 hours a day.
It is understandable that you feel worried as your daughter needs to go home but hopefully she is still there at the end of a phone and can face time if needed.
Try to have an easy day and not put too much pressure on yourself. Perhaps find some TV to catch up on. Not sure what it is like where you live but we have had heavy rain all day so after a bit of housework, will probably do the same myself.
Take care
Jane
I can understand that. What has helped in the past when you have felt like this?
Do your Grandchildren live close enough that you could take them out, for a walk or to the park or something?
Have you any neighbours or friends near by that you could have a cuppa with if you are feeling a bit lonely?
Well the daughter that has 2 grandsons lives behind me but she causes alot of my ainexity. I don't go out due to shortness of breath when moving about my dog isn't nice so I barely know my neighbors where I've moved to cause I can't really meet them he barks relentlessly and that bothers them.. I have no friends the big C scared everyone off.. what used to help doesn't seem to anymore. I have been given ainexity meds for the daytime and a few lorazepam (.05mg) I can take 1 a day if it gets to much but mixing them makes me nervous. My eating is off and everything to be honest. All my food just taste sickly sweet or not nice lately. Idk just so much going on I suppose..
It must be nice to have your grandsons so close- even if their Mum causes you some anxiety. How old are they?
I am sorry that you are having some shortness of breath and that it is stopping you getting out and about. Do you have a garden or area that you can go outside and sit for a bit? Maybe leave the dog inside if you are worried about his barking. is it a little dog? I know sometimes they can be very vocal!
It can be hard to make friends when moving house and when you have illnesses to deal with. I think some people just find cancer to tough to deal with- particularly if they have had experiences in their own families.
Have you mentioned to your doctor about your eating being off and the changes in taste- I wonder if it is to do with your previous treatments- or whether it is a side effect of your current medication. I know for me during chemo my taste did change and they gave me a mouthwash to help. My taste never quite got back to normal and even 4 years post treatment- I still have some foods that used to be favourites- just don't taste the same.
It sounds like you still have lots going on- maybe try to break things down, one step at a time so they feel more manageable. So think of one thing you could do today that would help with how you are feeling- watch something light hearted on tv, read a magazine, sit outside for a short time- anything that helps rather than being in one spot and worrying. I know that when you are feeling low it can be hard to get going or do something but I know during my treatments, if I sat in one place and didn't do a lot- it didn't help- sometimes when I felt particularly unwell or weak- I would just take my cuppa outside and sit in the sun for a bit. It did make a difference.
I hope your day goes ok and we are here if you need us.
Jane
Can be difficult where there are differences in parenting styles. I can understand that contributing to your anxiety. You worry about your children and grandchildren and just want the best for them. I expect she finds it hard at the moment having 2 little ones at those ages. Its pretty full on when they are little. I remember feeling permanently tired.
Maybe as they become a little older their Mum may appreciate you helping out with them, if she needs to pop to the shops etc.
I hope you feel a bit better as the day goes on.
