I am new to the group decided it was time i got support from people who are going through what i am going through and hopefully support others.  I have secondary breast cancer in my lung finished treatment in October for the second time . This past week i have been ill convincing my self its the cancer come back .. the symptoms are more like a gasric bug .. not been able to eat even thou all the other symptoms have gone , im not really an anxious person as i keep busy doing stuff . But my anxiety has been through the roof waking up  the first thought is Cancer its getting me down

  • Hi  and a warm welcome to the Online Community but so sorry to hear about your diagnoses and ongoing post treatment issues….. I have been on my incurable blood cancer journey for over 23 years so I totally ‘get’ how ‘everything’ that comes along puts the brain into overdrive.

A cancer journey is such a stressful and challenging time but you have done the right thing in reaching out to a place where you can ask questions and getting support from others who are on the ‘exact’ same cancer journey.

With this in mind and to widen your support platform can I recommend you also join and post in our supportive Breast, secondary cancer support group. This is a safe place to talk to others with a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support.

If you'd like to connect in with a group click on the (Bold) Group Link I have created above. Once the group page opens click on the black banner that says [click to join] at the bottom, or the [Join] button under "Group tools."

You can then introduce yourself by putting up a ‘new post’ by clicking in the box near the top right with + New or + (Depending on the device you are using) and you are ready to go. You could copy and paste the text from this post into your new post.

The Macmillan Support Line is open from 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00 where you can talk with someone about the practical and emotional challenges or just connect with a listening ear.

We also have our Telephone Buddy Service where you can be matched with someone who understands what you're going through, and they'll give you a weekly call.

Talking to people face to face can be very helpful so do check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Support in your area, do also check for a local Maggie's Centre as these folks are amazing and aim to give support to all the family.

Do get back to me if you need further help.

  • Hi Red Deb just wanted to reach out because it is an anxious time for you , and especially having been through treatment twice I can imagine more so …. Have you completed your second treatment  ? I hope you can find someone to chat to if you want either on here , I’m happy to chat anytime.I also found Maggies excellent if you have one and the support line on here has been my life line on occasion .. I suffer with anxiety and all this just exasperates it doesn’t it and may also explain the not eating … I can’t eat when I’m very anxious either and it’s a tough journey and we all get down so reach out to those that understand Much love , Elly x

  • Hi EllyB i finished my last chemo in October the tumour had shrunk to 3mm from 8mm after 5 mths chemo . They said it will never go do to it being secondary cancer . They can just monitor it they were talking about some new trials tbh i find it hard to take all the info in its so overwhelming..i have triple negative cancer that has now spread to my lung found in a routine check no symptoms and i  keep focusing on the negative comments i have not experienced anxiety like this since being diagnosed its giving me daily headaches then i think iv got a brain tumour its draining.  For the past few years i have kept running even through chemo i set up a community running group i done lots of fund raising climbed snowdon on chemo .. i was saying to my hubby earlier cos iv been ill this week with a bug my head has had to much time to think the worse .. cant wait to go back to work . This has definitely shown me i need support and counselling.. i have looked after everyone else.  My kids counselling as its been a tough 5 years my son died then 2 years later a diagnosis of cancer twice ..

Thank you for your reply i definitely need contact with others that understand

    Lots love

  • Oh my love what a lot you’ve had to deal with , no wonder you’re feeling anxiety at this level . Do you know that macmillan offer 6 free counselling sessions via Bupa , I used it , it was so helpful …. I also talked a lot with my GP about meds , counselling etc to keep her in the loop …. And of course we are here if we can help just to get it  off your chest …. Time in our heads is not good is it , are you still running ? X

  • Had a headache since Tuesday which is concerning me .. feels like a tension head ache but keep thinking the worse the only time it goes is when im asleep.  I will be starting me running again Tuesday.  I will look at the bupa counselling thanks . The thing keeping me going is in oct they said the cancer hadn't spread at that point.. then i think what if it has .. its consuming me iv got a scan on the 20th January and results on the 2nd .
