I was diagnosed with cancer of the kidney just over a month ago (23rd September) and am having removal of the kidney on Tuesday it all feels like a bit of a roller-coaster. Because of covid I was not able to have anyone with me when I was admitted to A and E and most of my appointments since have been on my own and I will have to go in to surgery on my own. I know I am lucky to have this dealt with so quickly but it all feels a little surreal a bit like I am reading a book and it is happening in there and then I come back to reality and it is real. I have been putting off joining this group as I think that would finally make it real. Thank you
Hello and welcome to the community, although sorry to hear of your kidney cancer diagnosis. Any cancer diagnosis is scary and most of us here know the thoughts that will be going through your head at the moment. These days of Covid and being alone at appointments and treatments make things especially harder which is why this community becomes very special as you can share things with others who understand and support you. This is a relatively quiet group which is maybe why you have not had a reply until now. We do have a Kidney Cancer Group and I recommend you join that group.
