Recently diagnosed with HPV

I have recently tested positive for HPV and I am struggling to manage my emotions. earlier this year I tested positive for gonorrhoea and chlamydia which I collected on my travels in SE Asia; last year I suffered around 8 weeks of ongoing cystitis (needless to say I broke off the relationship with that partner.)

Since being diagnosed with HPV I am feeling very down and very unsafe in my own body. I have recently met somebody who may be a new serious partner but I feel very anxious about sex, especially sex with men (I am bisexual and have had a few casual partners - all men- over the last year or so since my last serious relationship.) I wondered if any other women have similar emotional struggles and the same cervical issues?

  • Hi and welcome to the online community

I'm very sorry to read about the emotional struggles that you have been dealing with and I noticed that no one had responded to your post yet.

I can see that you've joined the vaginal cancer group and hope you don't mind me suggesting that you also post there, as I'm sure the women in that group will understand the emotional difficulties you have experienced dealing with vaginal cancer. If you'd like to post there clicking on the link I've created will take you straight there.

    Hi,

I have also recently been diagnosed with HPV following a cervical screening so totally understand how you are feeling. From what I have researched your immune system should clear it up in one to two years, however my concern is I think I probably picked it up over two years ago so I am worried for me it will not clear. Would you mind me asking, are you considering telling your new partner about HPV?
