Hi I have HER positive breast cancer. I have completed 4 cycles of EC chemotherapy and last Saturday started my first cycle of 4 of Doxetacel and Phesgo ahead of surgery.
I did experience side effect with the EC- mainly fatigue but after the Doxetacel and Phesgo it feels so much worse.
I have zero energy and have a nasty dry itchy rash and sore throat. I’ve contacted the hospital helpline and they have given me antibiotics and antihistamine but I feel no better.
I had to take last week off work and I’m now in week 2 - usually feel much better by now but I just feel awful.
wondered if anyone had a similar experience and if it gets better……
Hi Shadow26
I am one of the Community Champions on the breast cancer forums. I don’t have HER positive cancer so haven’t been treated with Phesgo, and I had paclitaxel rather than docetaxel. Although it’s the same class of drug, paclitaxel is usually given weekly so it spreads the side effects somewhat. But I wasn’t a fan. I recommend you join the Breast cancer forum and look for people with similar experience there. We have a lot of people on the same treatment as you and I think the side effects you describe are unfortunately quite common. On any 3 week cycle you will feel better towards the end of the 3 weeks, but it’s miserable getting there. I hope you feel better soon.
