I am experiencing very low blood pressure 3-4 days after each treatment (2 so far) . This makes me dizzy when I stand and occasionally my legs give way if very low. Has anyone else experienced this and are there any tips for managing it?
Hi Laluke and sorry to hear this.
I have had over 750hrs of chemo along with many other treatments including 45 radiotherapy zaps and 2 Allogenic (Donor) Stem Cell Transplants.
Low BP during chemo is unfortunately rather normal due to dehydration and reduced red blood cell production in turn lowers your blood's oxygen-carrying capacity and can result in lowered blood pressure and dizziness.
The main thing you can do is aim to drink a minimum of 2 litres of water each in every day all through the months of treatment……
Ensure that your team knows about the issues as they ‘may’ give you some blood transfusions to help…. but from my experience consultants like to allow our babe marrow to recover and get back to its job of producing the blood products that the body requires.
