Looking for tips to help with dry eyes with nivolumab

Hi all. I'm new here so I'm sorry if I'm not following the correct etiquette. I hope everyone's having as good a day as they can be. I am currently suffering with severe dry eyes, and, having spoken to an optician several times, and done a bit of research, I think it may be because of the nivolumab treatment I am currently having for my kidney cancer and metastases. A quick Google search shows me that dry eyes have been associated in studies looking at immunotherapy drugs like the one I am using, and with the help of my optician I am trying anti-inflammatory eyedrops which act to counter the stimulation of the immune system from the cancer treatment.

I would be very keen to hear whether anybody else has had a similar problem with drugs in the same family as nivolumab, and whether anybody has found anything to ease the symptoms. I'm prepared to give most things a try:-)

Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again. However, you might not get any replies here as this group is for discussions on chemotherapy rather than immunotherapy.

I can see that you also posted this question in the kidney cancer group and had a reply. In case you haven't seen it, clicking here will take you straight there.

While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
