My husbands 9 days post his first chemo & was doing fine with side affects. Decided for me to have some respite as I'm really not well & need a break. I left yesterday he was just nauseas & today hes text to say had runs & feels sick  i'm in Spain, got here 8 hrs ago just for 4 days & now I dont know what to do, fly home. I've been sick with worry miles away from airport exhausted.

Hes got marsden in morn for kidney function test & I've said to see doctor on trials wing.

I'm literally at the end of my tether with worry.

Is this normal reaction to chemo side affects? He was ok all the time taking steroids & the other anti sickness & now this as started today

I said yesterday shall I cancel & he said no. I just dont know what to do he wont call any numbers back home & I'm in Spain. I dont even think I could board a plane at the minute, as the shock as knocked me sick.

Is this normal for him? Yesterday Friday etc eating been going to shop all week, I have the respite & this happens.

Any help advice needed.

Thank you

  • This all sounds encouraging….. based on my/our long experience (25 years - See my storywe quickly learned to expect the unexpected so had to closely monitor what we did especially if my wife wanted to visit the grandchildren when I was having treatment.

Try and use the remaining time to chill ((hugs))

  • I've had colitis since I was 17 & I'm 61 & take meds when I have ups & learned to live with it.

But as this is an immunotherapy side affect colitis, will he be stuck with this for life & have to be careful with foods etc as I do? Or once IV steroids are done is that it? I'm googling but cant seem to find much info.

My husbands fave meals fish & chips, Sunday roasts, loves a chinese etc

I am absolutely shocked by this. As he was so pleased with the chemo reducing his knee pain from osteoarthritis & all the fluid swelling he had around ankles knees legs, went within the furst week after chemo & then this happens.

I am quite surprised none of his oncology team had mentioned this could happen
