Hi there, just ahead of getting a call back from CSN , has anyone had and issues with a Covid booster whilst having chemo please ? I think it is advisable to go ahead and have the boosters especially as we are immunocompromised ? I usually ended up in bed for a day after even before diagnosis and treatment.
Many thanks

  • Hi - I was told to wait until end of chemo to get the booster, just on the basis that there wasn't any data to suggest that having the vaccine would make any difference in my particular case... Plus I was neutropenic and if I developed a fever the day after the vaccine they would not be able to tell if it was an infection or a natural response to the booster. So I would have to go to hospital and get antibiotics etc 'just in case'. So there was no benefit.

My treatment was for lymphoma, I guess it depends on your case.

I got the winter one 3 months after finishing treatment and I am going for another booster tomorrow.

  • Thank you so much for the info . Really helpful .
