Hi All, I'm currently after second round of chemo of taxol and carboplatin. First round was bad (or so I thought), but this time I started to get really acute abdominal pain, seriously it feels like someone is poking me with needles all over. I've rang the helpline twice and spoke to the docs and I'm going in tomorrow for an assessment at the hospital. It's hard to know what's "normal" and what isn't and I think I just need some reassurance that this is chemo's doing and nothing more serious. Anyone had a similar side effect to what I'm guessing is caused by Taxol? I'm hoping to get better advice tomorrow but it's so hard to stay positive feeling like this.
I had similar in my first chemo session. Carbotaxol started in March for stage 4 endometrial cancer. My CNS said it was due to the chemo working on the disease and I was prescribed a stronger version of cocodemol than you can buy over the counter. I used this sparingly but it helped with sleep (the pain seemed to be worse at night and it lasted for 3/4 days). The pain has not been as bad in subsequent sessions, just completed number 4. Good luck with your appointment tomorrow x
Hey, thanks for replying to my post. Weirdly I'm still managing to sleep OK but once I'm awake it all just kicks in and it's pretty unbearable. It's reassuring to know it's not just me. Hopefully they will sort me out tomorrow and it will pass. Good luck with everything x
