Chemotherapy after affects

Good evening all,

It’s been a while but I’m looking for advice on what to expect after chemo finishes.
I’m currently day 11 into my 3rd of 4 treatments and I’m not gonna lie this one’s been tough! Nausea beyond believe and fatigue that’s restricted me from leaving bed let alone eat much or anything else!
Is it normal the further on into chemo you go the worse you feel? Therefore my last cycle will be this bad!
Also I’m unaware what to expect after chemo is complete, will it take me ages to recover energy wise and will my hair still carry on thinning (as it is now)
I’m hoping I will be given plenty of advice from the nurses and drs but will ask on here anyway, advice on skincare/sun care etc for the summer?
many thanks x

  • Evening,

I think it is quite individual how you respond to chemo. I was on Oxaliplatin and capecitabine for four cycles. It was tough for me but others sailed through. After it was finished, the nausea disappeared within a fortnight but the neuropathy I experienced is still present nearly a year after. I don’t think that will change for me.  Yes, I did feel worse as it went on and my chemo nurse said that was normal.  Energy levels took a couple of months to recover, but again, this is very person dependent.

Hang in there, you’re nearly done.
