My son is finding it hard to eat and swallow as throat feels sore painful and a bit tight. Hes on FLOT chemo. I believe Oxilaplatin can cause this soreness. Hes got 3 more sessions to go so im really worried if it gets worse. Any advice please?
Hi Sootylou and a warm welcome to the Macmillan Community but so sorry to hear about your son.
He/you should be talking with his clinical team so they know about his throat problems and look for them to help him out.
A cancer diagnosis in the family can be such a challenging and stressful time but getting support from others who are dealing with the ‘exact same' cancer or cancer support challenges can help a lot.
The Community is actually divided into dedicated Support Groups (Discussion Rooms)……… but you don’t say what type of cancer your son has…….. but if you care to have a look through this link Cancer Specific Groups you will find all our dedicated cancer support groups listed.
As for the practical and emotional challenges of supporting your son and indeed yourself you may benefit from joining and posting in our……..
……support groups where you will connect with others navigating the same support challenges.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
