If my memory serves me correctly, these will be my 1st dosage for chemo(time wise) -Epirubicin - Cyclophosphamide(4 months)

2nd dosage - Docetaxel(2 months)

My nurse is ringing me Monday for the chemo talk,I was given a link to watch the chemo vids from hospital on,which I watched earlier,it's just nice to know if anybody has had those meds and can tell me what to expect,I am concerned about all the side effects and loss of hair, thank you.

  • Hello,

I’ve just finished 3 months of EC. Strong but did the job of shrinkage for me. Even though my outcome was only a partial response (other chemo that I had didn’t have ang response).

EC is split. E is red in colour and is straight chemo which isn’t diluted with saline. The nurse sits with you and manually pumps this. C can be manually pumped but mine was on the drip thing.
The time for both was about 30 mins. It’s dead quick.

Side effects that I experienced was a mixture. Dry mouth, loss of taste, constipation, loose stools, fatigue, sore throat, and the only way to describe it is the ‘washing machine feeling’ - like body vibrating.
Also had bone pain from the injections (had injections for increase of white blood cells).

I had already experienced hair loss from my first lot of chemo but you could try the cold cap. I did and my hair has thinned. I started to wear a wig only from about cycle 7 out of 8… I had my last infusion on 20/11 and my hair is still coming out unfortunately.

I also had a couple of infections so had to have antibiotics.

Just be prepared for anything cos everyone is different! You may not experience anything and have an easy journey. This is your journey.

    Good luck!x
