Hi All,
My dad had his last chemo session on 15 November.
There was an issue when administering it and it ended up going under the skin instead of the vein.
The medical team acted quickly but he still has a dark red rash under the skin that isn’t getting better.
we have heard from the nurse this can rot the flesh and cause the need for a skin graft.
He was on Flucloxacillin (antibiotics 500mg 4 x per day)
has anyone else experienced this, any tips and what was the outcome.
thanks xx
Hi CCG sorry to hear this....... I have had a lot of chemo and antibiotics over my years of treatment and on a few occasions this happend to me.... I had some swelling and redness but 9 years on from my last treatment I have no lasting effects.
I hope that your dad will be fine.
Hi thehighlander,
Thanks so much for responding and sorry to hear you too have dealt with similar.
I don’t suppose you remember how long it took for the redness to go down?
best,
xx
Oh this is a while back....... but it took a good 2-3 weeks.
My husband had this at a similar time, although his was Oxaliplatin, apparently it depends on the type of chemo for what it actually does and how long it takes to mend. My hubby it created a hard lump in his arm and made him super sensitive to cold and touch, the lump is still there now 2 months later but gradually improving. Hope your Dad has improved.
