Hi everyone,
I was diagnosed with colon cancer in February and had an operation in early March but unfortunately I have chemo starting tomorrow. I’m getting an infusion and pills (xelox )
Obviously I have no idea how it will affect me, so maybe I’m being a bit naive even thinking this is possible, but is there a problem with swimming in a council pool? My scars from the operation are healed and my chemo Dr says go for it but everywhere else seems to be cautioning against it.
Does anyone else swim while on chemo?
I’m just trying to keep my level of fitness up.
Many thanks, Paul
Hi Paul Wingsuit I was told not to swim in any pool, opennwater and keep clear of home Jacuzzi’s as the infection risk was high as chemo does reduce the effectiveness of your immune system.
As for your actually treatment do post in our dedicated Bowel (colon and rectum) cancer support group as you will connect with others who have walked the same journey.
Hi Mike, thanks for giving me your thoughts and advice.
I think on balance then I’ll stick to walking through the fields near me as my exercise.
Yes, I’ll reach out to the bowel cancer group too as chemo starts.
Many thanks, Paul
