Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has had sumilar problems?

I am day 6 and every night 8pm onwards i am in so much pain in my body, shaking and feel awful.  Still taking injections post first chemo TC session, lots of other symptoms but this is particularly bad? Sorry if i sound negative but really struggling.

Thanks

Nikki

  • Hi  and sorry to hear about your challenges.

Do remember that this is a general Chemotherapy Discussion Group that basically covers every type of cancer and this means many many different treatments….. so it would be worth putting up the same post in the Breast cancer group as you can chat with people who are on the exact same journey.

The other thing you should do in the early days is call these issues into your key worker/Specialist Cancer Nurse (CNS) and get their advice.

But it sounds like these issues are being triggered when you are taking G-CSF injections.

I was on G-CSF Injections for 4-5 days after my 6 cycles of R-EPOCH and daily for 4 months following my second Stem Cell Transplant.

These injections are designed to ‘wake up’ your bone marrow but unfortunately there are side effects like bad bone (my nurse called it bone marrow birthing pains) and also excessive histamine production.

I was told to take Paracetamol but more importantly I was also prescribed Antihistamine like Piriton or Clarityn by my teams as this bizarrely stopped most of the pain developing.

  • Hi Mike

Thankyou so much for your reply, i will call my nurse as suggested. I was a little worried about making a fuss!!

  • You are not making a fuss….. this is what your CNSs are there for…… and they would rather hear about what is going and be able to reassure you but more importantly be able to step in ‘if’ there are problems ((hugs))
