Has anyone had their treatment postponed just to side effects?

I've had two EC so far and I have developed Shingles so they has halted my treatment for two weeks Upside down

  • Breaks in chemo happens a lot. I had 2 of my 6 cycles delayed by a few weeks each and it made no difference to the outcomes in the end.

  • I did a few times because of infections. Even my oral chemotherapy was ended early because of this.  I mostly was getting high levels of UTI infection. I was even nutrapenic sepsis at one time.

I also had severe neuropathy and low nutrafils. I found that beetroot juice help me alot. I had to manage who came around and I did not go put much to minimise infections.

My magnesium levels also fell very low and several time I has diarrhoea and was hospitalised.

  • Yes, my chemo was very stop/start as my liver decided it wasn't so keen on the whole thing.  I had 2 4-week breaks.  It's nice in a way as I started to feel a bit more myself by the end of the month and, of course, better able to tolerate the chemo.  But it's frustrating as the end date disappears into the distance.  Hang in there. x
