Dear all
I am in week 3 post a first cycle of paclitaxel/ carboplatin chemo for endometrial cancer.
My hair is starting to fall out now and the scalp feels very tender and sore. Do you have any advice how to make this more comfortable?
Thanksx
Hi Can
I'm in week 2 after first cycle of a different chemo combination and haven't had any problems with my scalp yet. However, I'm aware that it's likely to start any time soon.
I hope you don't mind me suggesting that you also post this question in the womb cancer group as you'll then connect directly with others who are on this treatment and can tell you what they found worked best in looking after their scalp.
x
My hair came out due to radiotherapy rather than my chemotherapy but my scalp was sore and now it’s growing back I have developed cradle cap . What I have found has helped is baby oil, this has helped throughout and you can get it quite cheaply so it may be worth a try.
I too started to loose my hair 3 weeks after first chemo and it was agony felt like every hair on my scalp was wiggling around in my head so I took the decision to shave it off...my partner Mark did it for me yes I cried but if I'm totally honest it was the best thing I could do and sorness stopped instantly

Really sorry you’re in this place.
I bet you look good for the shaved look though. I think ladies with very short or bald heads look beautiful. It’s such a natural look.
I got married on Saturday and my new wife has always had very short skinhead style hair and she looks lovely.
I start my second round of chemo next week, lung cancer spread all over the bloody place.
As a typical vein bloke, I’m scared of losing my hair too and yet it should be easier for me. My biggest worry was - could I get married in the 2 weeks before my 2nd dose after diagnosis as I was told that’s when it may happen.
Stay safe,
Take care guys,
Rameses.
Hi Rameses
So sorry about your diagnosis I'm keeping everything crossed for you !
I laughed when you said you were worried about loosing your hair too...really made me smile! Guess I'm not the only vein person in the world!
I'm trying to rock the look with beanies and scarves at the moment not sure I'm succeeding lol not brave enough to go out bald just yet! But hey you never know!
Look after yourself and congratulations on the wedding ! Bet was a fab day for you both! Xx
I loved it thanks. It was arranged very quick but turned out to be a great day.
And I bet you look great. Grab the moment and just do it. Can’t change it now anyway so you might as well embrace it and enjoy it.
In lockdown, we shaved and went full on bald for charity. Raised £250.00. And it was a laugh.
I’ve been looking at a Bucket Cap, beanies and my F1 caid. Can’t make my mind up. Blokes are defiantly vein too.
take care.
Take care guys,
Rameses.
