Morning all,
Im currently in the 3rd round of my 8 cycles of chemo for breast cancer.
Had my last round on 29th June.
I have tested positive for covid this morning after waking up with a sore throat. Spoke to the chemo line, they said dont worry, just get in touch if I get a temperature or feel really unwell.
Has anyone else had covid while under going chemo? Im naturally feeling a littlw anxious and would love to hear from anyone who's been there.
Thanks in advance xx
Hi JessicaRabbit, sorry to hear about your positive covid test. It’s doing the rounds at the moment.
I am a few years out from treatment for a blood cancer bit remain on the Clinically Extremely Vulnerable (CEV) list with a compromised immune system and tested positive back in March and I was fine.
I as given the option to call my team back if things got worse within the first 4-5 days as they would have given me antivirals but did not need them.
Just keep an eye out for any significant changes and do call them in if you feel worse.
Lets see if anyone who has had a positive test during chemo picks up on your post. You could widen your search by putting your post up in the Breast cancer group as more people will be looking at that group.
Thanks so much ThehighlanderItsgood to hear of other people coming through the other side.
My temp was up this morning and my heart rate isn't right so I have been to hospital this morning. They have referred me to the antiviral clinic who should be in touch.
Its just a worry isn't it?
Well done in getting checked out - it is what it is but at least there are meds available if required ((hugs))
This seems odd. I was told by the 24 hour response number that if I tested positive they would send me medicine - chemo patients are among those entitled to it.
Well, I ended up in A&E with a high temp, thankfully they ruled out infection and started me on antivirals so Im feeling much happier.
Have spoken to the chemo unit this morning and they said that as long as I'm negative by next Wednesday, my chemo will go ahead as planned next Thursday xxxx
