My partner had her first chemo session on Friday, think it is fulfox she got, over 3 days.
Saturday Sunday was good, Monday meh,, Tuesday meh meh today boom floored. She hasn't eaten today has slept most of it, I'm ensuring she is drinking plenty of water, if you can call a mouthful every hour plenty.
I don't know how to help, I'm not sure if this is normal or not, can anyone shed any light?
Does anyone have any advise on when I should call a doctor (she doesn't want me to).
We've already had her anti-sickness tablets and diareha tablets changed as the other ones weren't working.
Will it pick up or is there worse to come for her? I feel so helpless :((
Thanks for taking the time to read.
Elaine
Hi my mum had her first chemo on 14 th june , she was fine day 1-5 then no eating or drinking … we left it thinking she would be ok ( lost half a stone in a week ) resulting in 2 trips to a& e . So my advise would be if she doesnt eat today , to call your emergency number on your alert card . They will advise u wether things are normal or u should go to a & e for a check . This first chemo for us has been a massive learning experience . Our doctors and hospital have been great , mum straight into a side room . Just call them and ask . Dont do what we did and leave things .
sending hugs x
Thank you for the reply Michelle,
Well I did call and they sent an ambulance, she has an infection so straight in a side room and treating her intravenously with antibiotics.
I just wish I hadn't left it so long it's hard to know when it's the side effects of chemo or in her and your mums case more serious.
Just need to wait and hope now the antibiotics do their magic.
So scared for her
Hugs Elaine x
I hope ur partner is ok ,shes in the best hands . Ive learnt this last 11 days , call the alert number or your specialist nurse about anything, diarrhoea, being sick etc cos like u we left it , we know better now , my mums home ( for now ) but it is a scary time .
good luck x
