Hi there just found out by a letter that was sent to my doctors that I have a larger than lesion than he discussed with me.

I was told that the matastis that were in my liver were between 1.5mm and one at 3mm there was  on ct scan I visited my oncologist three weeks ago and asked for a different oncologist as I was sick of getting fobbed off without ever getting any real answers I was diagnosed with t3n2 colorectal cancer last year underwent radiotherapy followed by  illostomy they found 5 nodes infected out of nine removed I was then told I needed follow up chemotherapy which I accepted and started that cycle as I was nearing the end of that I mentioned to nurse that even though I appreciated there care I hoped I never needed them again her answer set alarms off straight away so my next appointment with said oncologist he informed me of matastis in liver and lung and ordered ct again I had not had a ct since starting chemo so was rather upset that again information had been with held I had sorted a job thinking my journey was coming to a end my partner had agreed to me not cohabiting with her until I had reversal of illostomy then to find out this was withheld was a bit of a knockout blow at this point I reminded the oncologist that when I met him I had told him I wanted nothing withheld from me and asked why this had been he basically didn't answer and fobbed me off so I asked advice from oncology nurses on my next bloods who said I could request a change from him (he was covering leave from my treatment center) so I asked him to do this on my next appointment I also asked why he had said in letter to my doctor he had said he had discussed the fact that my treatment was change to palliative which he had not he blabbed on that not all palliative treatment means palliative and when asked by me on what my mri scan results were proceeded to look them up and said to me and my partner that changes were nominal letter I received today shows although three matastis mentioned earlier were about the same I now have a 31mm lesion which was not mentioned is this normal practice he made me undergo a liver and full abdomen mri but has not mentioned if this was clear or if 3mm point in my lung had  prognosis  of cancer or not my head is banging today as I had my appointment with new oncologist yesterday by phone obviously with current situation going on and won't be speaking again for a few weeks as had my cycle changed because of corona and new systems in place put back two more days.

Is this how people are treated normally anyone want to explain how bad a lesion of that size will effect my survival rate

I am venting a bit but any answers would be welcomed

Thanks

  • Hi

It sounds like you've been through an awful lot and it's no wonder you want to know if this is how patients are normally treated.

Could I recommend that you think about joining the following groups and copy and paste your question from here into one, or all, of these groups as that way you're more likely to connect with others who have had a similar diagnosis. The groups are the bowel cancer, secondary liver cancer and secondary lung cancer groups.

To join any or all of these groups just click on the links I've created and then choose 'join this group' on the pages that open. You can then introduce yourself and post questions after selecting 'start a discussion' and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
