Hi,

I hope you don't mind me asking questions! I have an appointment tomorrow and I have been told that we'll be discussing this treatment. I have done a bit of reading on the MacMillan and Cancer Research websites (as well as the print outs I was given at the hospital) but I was just wondering if anyone had any experience of this and its effect on daily life? I'm wondering which questions to ask, etc.!

I know that everyone's experiences are different, but it would be a huge help to hear from anyone all the same.

Thank you!

  • Hi again Jess, you may well get an answer on this group but there are numerous types of chemo and most folks stick to their cancer specific groups but lets see if you get a reply.

I would also advise you to put this specific question up in the Follicular lymphoma group as these are the folks that will have been through this blood cancer specific treatment. But R-CHOP is used across a number types of Lymphomas.

You can also search the site for R-CHOP using the search facility..... but you will get a lot of hits.

  • Hi, I had 8 rounds of rchop, first one apart from the reaction to rituximab and therefore slow infusion it took 13 hours, it was a walk in the park, the second not so bad but was sick and then the cumulative effect kicked in and by the 7th I felt totally wiped out. That said I know others who have sailed trough it and only had mild fatigue which is a common side effect.

I would be asking why rchop is due to the grade and stage and they want to hit it hard, forgot to mention in your other post that FNHL gets a grade as well as a stage and for fnhl rchop is the big guns.

early cycles could have worked some of the time, later on not and the steroid side effects can impact on sleep and the ability to work.

    anything else just ask

  • Hi Jess

Hope tomorrow goes ok. If you do have RCHOP as treatment you will do just fine. You have age on your side and if you manage twins you will manage RCHOP!

I went through six cycles and carried on working with days off for treatment and occasionally when didnt feel great. Take a look at some of my posts where I talk about what I found and the advice provided to me.

    Wishing you the best.

Thank you for this! It's all really helpful... I'm still very much getting my head around everything, but I will definitely have some questions and will do a bit of searching as you've recommended also.

Really appreciate it - thanks again!
