Hi, im starting pre-op chemo (FLOT) for stomach cancer in 2 weeks, was just looking for advice on managing side effects? People’s experiences etc.

  • Hi , I’m sorry you haven’t had the personal experience you want from this group yet, I looked and was glad to see you’ve had some from the stomach cancer group though. I am not on the same drug as you and have had little side effects from any of the 35 iv treatments I’ve had, but I can say that the nurses in the chemo suite usually go through what to do if you get any side effects and give you a 24 hour number to ring, and if/when you ring it they are very helpful and reassuring in my experience.

Theres some Macmillan information on FLOT I don’t know if you’ve read it so I will put the link in it goes through (like it sounds your dr has already done) the side effects and what they do for some of them. I know I was given tablets for diarrhoea to take home in case I got it. It sounds great that your so fit as it may be that the fatigue will be kind to you aswell which was something that bugged me and I aimed to get more active to help with that. I’ve put two links in below in case they help. I also hope you keep in touch with your stomach cancer group people to have support and make friends as you go through your treatment. My husband like them bought a digital thermometer and hand gel for us and a note book for questions or to monitor stuff.

    Good luck with the treatment
