Mum in law in denial or forgotten diagnosis

Hi, just joined and looking for any similar experience out there.

Mum in law has incurable cancer in abdomen. She is doing ok in hospital and up until our last visit on Wednesday she understood her diagnosis and discussed it with us in her a matter of fact way. She has no dementia and is quite sharp. She's 89.

At visit on Wednesday she mentioned twice that she hadn't been told yet what was wrong with her and they're still doing tests. We didn't correct her. She said it again during that visit and in the evening to a different visitor.

We have asked to speak to palliative care nurse to understand how to deal with this but still waiting.

Meanwhile any ideas how to deal with this?

Do we correct or just roll with her idea of what's going on.

TIA for anyone with any experience or advice
