My 28 year old son has recently been diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkins Lymphoma. Although the outlook should be good, he's just starting chemo and I am terrified of him getting an infection. I don't know how to manage my anxiety. Can anyone help me cope with positive stories
Hi Worrymum
My wife's cancer is very different, Leiomyosarcoma but when she was going through treatment she did have a couple of infections, a good quality thermometer like they use in the hospitals is very useful. Once she developed a temperature it was a case of straight to the hospital for IV antibiotics - a bit of a pain but soon got on top of any problem.
Something I found quite helpful in dealing with my own emotions was looking at your feelings when someone has cancer as being able to recognize these emotions and accept them as normal and valid can help to make them less overwhelming.
<<hugs>>
Steve
