My brother I suffering with multiple myeloma, I feel so helpless and wish there was more I could do to help. We live at opposite ends of the country and most of my most recent updates are by phone or texts. He always puts on a brave face (always has done) whenever I visit or speak to him but he is having real issues with pain (his wife tells me). He currently goes to hospital weekly for treatment and seems to be handling that okay but within a couple of days is in agony again. Not sure he is being honest enough with doctors as he stonewall refuses to go back in to hospital, I think it might be best option short term to get controlled pain relief and expert help on hand 24/7 to get him on even keel. Any advice greatly appreciated.
Hi Wee Brother
Welcome to our community, I hope you find it both informative and supportive.
I am Steve, one of the community champions and my experience of cancer is via my wife who has Leiomyosarcoma.
I know with Janice when she is really unwell when she actually wants to go to the hospital. It is also very common to see people with cancer who put on that brave face,
Glad his wife feels she can share her concerns with you, that must be a great help to her as I know how difficult it can be when we are in the caring role.
<<hugs>>
Steve
Just wish there was more ì could to help, been down for visits and in most cases just get "I'm okay" when I know he is suffering on an emotional level too. Did spend a few hours "alone time" with him where he was more honest and opened up.
