Hi, I'm new to this forum. My dad was diagnosed with cancer of the tounge a few weeks ago, he has been a different person since being on the Morphine and it's really hard to see him like this before he has even started the Radiotherapy. I've gone back to work but am struggling to concentrate and now off due to covid. I need people to be able to talk too, been trying to get counciling for myself to deal with this but not getting anywhere.

  • HI DarkRose

welcome to the online community. So sorry to hear about your dad and also that you're struggling. Well done for reaching out. I've found this group hugely supportive over the past few months.

My husband received a terminal diagnosis (brain tumour) in early Sept 2020. Any cancer diagnosis is such a lot to take in for the person who has had the diagnosis and also for their family. I'm not surprised you're feeling it. I know in the first few weeks after my husband's diagnosis, my emotions were all over the place and my concentration was shot to pieces. I guess what I'm trying to say is don't be too hard on yourself.  All these overwhelming feelings and emotions are normal. Have you tried calling MacMillan?

Macmillan Support Services also offer lots of information, support, financial guidance or just someone to listen. It’s free to call 0808 808 0000. Most services are available 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week. Have a look by Clicking here to see what is available.

I hope some of what I've said has been helpful. You're never alone in this group. There's always someone on hand to lend an ear or offer a virtual hug.

Sending you a huge virtual hug, Hang in there. You are doing so much better than you give yourself credit for.(trust me on on that).
