My older brother went into hospital a week ago with back pain. He was not breathless in any way. 9 days on and he has had radiotherapy for lung cancer and is paralysed due to secondary cancer compressing his spinal cord.
What is most scary is how fast his breathing is suffering. Within the 9 day period, he is now breathless when engaging in conversation yet he wasn’t prior to admission. I know he is lying down 23 out of 24 hours a day which will not be helping him but myself and rest of my family are all so shocked at just how fast this has all happened.
Doctors have yet to do a biopsy but had their first case meeting yesterday so we will be updated today. They have been hinting at it being palliative care only because of the paralysis so we are hoping for the best and trying to preapare for the worst.
Has anyone else had a similar experience with Cancer progressing as fast as what seems to have been the case with my brother?
Hi I am really sorry to hear about your brother and also sorry you haven't had a response to your post.
Unfortunately some people do deteriorate very quickly, I hope things have turned a corner and are looking more positive for him.
Wishing you and your brother all the best.
