New to the Forum but not new to cancer

Hi there, I’m new to the forum and have been advised by a therapist to talk to others going through a similar thing to me to try and get some relief. The background is in 2019 my partner of 2 years (31 years old at the time) at the time found blood in his urine a couple of times that year and put off going to the doctor until it happened a second time and in September 2019 after tests including a CT scan a large mass was found in his bladder. He was immediately called for surgery and they removed it entirely as well as lymph nodes surrounding his bladder as the cancer had grown into the bladder wall. He came out of surgery with the tumour removed and a partial neo bladder. After a long and painful recovery of over 3 months) with lots of infections) he then went into 3 months of preventative cancer treatment. This year after around 9 months of clear scans we were told that there were 2 possible tumours on his liver (1cm in size). They can’t tell us 100% if they are cancerous  but they have said they are fairly confident they are. He now has open surgery this Friday to remove them. I’m his only real support as his family don’t live in London and I’m working full time in a stressful job. I’m finding it really hard to cope mentally. But even in the process of writing this down I feel better. I wish you all well in your journeys with this and am happy this forum exists. X

  • Hi

It is amazing how reaching out to others here can help. While our stories are often very different it is good to feel less alone and with someone who gets some days an be really hard.

We had a presentation at work today from a lady from our local carers centre and she was talking about the things they do to help support carers.

Do post whenever as someone is always listening and sharing helps not only us but others who we may never see.

    <<hugs>>
