I had a single mastectomy and lymph node removal 5 weeks ago. The oncotype dx score is 41 so chemo has been recommended to avoid reoccurrence. I had invasive lobular cancer the tumour was 40mm.
I am really struggling with the decision..my lymph nodes were clear. I am 69 years old and do not really want chemo if it isn't necessary.
Any advice or thoughts welcome.Thank you
Hi STB and welcome to Macmillan.
I’m sorry to read about the dilemma you’re facing in making your decision on further treatment. I had a different type of cancer, so don’t have experience I can share, but would like to recommend you join our beast cancer group to speak to others with the same cancer who can share their experiences. The link is here
If you just click on the link, you can join the group by clicking on the black banner going across the page and make a new post to introduce yourself to the other members.
I hope you’ll be able to find the help and support you need and you’ll be able to make the right decision for you that you’ll be happy with.
Sarah xx
