My husband stage 4 N3T2M1c startrd Keytruda in April. First scan showing lymph nodes shrinkage & cancer stable. He as 2 bone mets & one 6mm nrain met. Cyberknife to brain as been amazing & excellent results.
He had his second check up scan in August & yesterday thought it was normal bloods see onco discuss results & have keytruda today. How wrong were we.....
Told cancers progressed, still in lung gone from 5cm to 7cm & 4cm in spine & one of the lymph nodes as got big again. To say we were shocked is an understatement. He had the scans 3 wks, why let us wait knowing this news, they told me Monday scans were ready. We were actually thinking of going away but thats not happening..
So keytruda stopped & Pemetrexed & Carboplatin to start next week. Terrified of chemo, terrified of side affects.
As anyone had this chemo? So much was said in room yesterday but cant remember, about being given every 3 wks instead of the.week keytruda infusion. One lot will be taken for 4 cycles. Had a B12 injection & is taking folic acid.
How can this cancer have grown when he feels ok no cough of chest pain not breathless. A lot of knee pain which they now say keytruda as probably caused that.
Anyone who as had this chemo how bad is it? We have paperwork but my minds blank to read. Is it worth just saying no & leaving everything? Just so shocked...I came straight home & went to bed crying, he as lost his appetite & now thinks thats it the cancers won & he wont here for xmas. How can something work & then not, just dont understand it.
So if anyone as any experience of this type of chemo please can you let me know what we are up against.....thank.you
They did say its not agressive cancer....
