Hi
has anybody had a PICC line fitted for their chemo and how has it been?
is it painful?
Hi Beanie2024 I had a PICC line in for 5 month during my chemo for my blood cancer and had no problems with it.
Apart from a little sting when the insertion area was numbed I felt nothing. It takes a week or so to get used to having the line in but it makes treatment and blood tests so simple.
Thank you so much.
I read up on it online and it says it goes close to your heart and can get infected and cause blood clots so am freaked out but your post has helped ease my mind.
really appreciate it.
take care
Yes it sits very near your heart but it is positioned very carefully. Yes it can be an infection risk but I had no infections or blood clots.
