Hello everyone, So my mum was diagnosed with Metastatic Lung cancer on the 5th June. The oncologist has said she has a very rare/ very aggressive type called Enteric type lung adenocarcinoma.

She started a combined treatment of Chemo/Immunotherapy & Targeted on Tuesday. She did really well considering it was a really long day having treatment - about 9 hours in total.

Yesterday and today all she has done is sleep, i have read everything i can on possible side affects and i guess the coming days/weeks we will see how she reacts but i am wondering if i am over-worrying about how exhausted she is in under 24hours after the treatment. My mum is literally falling asleep constantly, she will be holding her phone replying to a text and will fall asleep. Yesterday i was waking her up for scheduled medicines, trying to get her feet up as they were swollen and getting a small amount of exercise basically from the sitting room into the Garden.

Can i ask if anyone else has had similar experiences?

Thank you in advance.

  • Hi and welcome to the online community

I'm very sorry to read that your mum has recently been diagnosed with metastatic lung cancer and that you're worried about how exhausted she is after having had recent treatment. She should have been given a card so that she can contact her hospital team if she feels unwell and it might be an idea if you give the team a call to explain how she is feeling.

Could I also suggest that you join the lung cancer group as this will give you the opportunity of posting your question directly to others who have lung cancer.

If you'd like to join just click on the link I've created and then choose 'join this group' on the page that opens. You can then introduce yourself and copy and paste your question from here after selecting 'start a discussion' and also join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

When you have a minute, it would be really useful if you could pop something about your mum's journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
