syringes on a plane

I regularly take my filgrastim (GCSF) syringes with me in my had baggage on flights and never have any problems. As these need to be kept cool I Trappist them in an insulated bag. I always tell the security team at the gate that I’m carrying them but have only been asked to show the letter once in about 10 flights now. In terms of transporting the used syringes the one I use have a protective sheath that covers the needle after use so I don’t need to carry a sharps container with me. So long as the needle is covered so no one searching your bag can get a needle stick injury, you should be fine as well.

Hi amb1958. DP is right - there shouldn’t be any problem. I carry two Epipens (not cancer related) in my hand luggage and have never had a problem. I always tell the person checking me in - sometimes they will take you round to security, sometimes not. I have been asked for the prescription a couple of times, so it’s worth taking a copy or your doctor’s letter with you. Good luck and have fun.
