Hi, I'm a 38 year old female and I'm 4 months post liver resection to remove 2 hepatocellular carcinoma tumors (segment VII, VI and III). The surgery was complex and I was in an induced coma for 10 days after due to multiorgan failure, sepsis and needing CRRT.
I'm now on the other side and recovering well. I just have some concerns that the consultants have told me is normal, but I was wondering if others had the same?
I haven't yet resumed my periods. My last Hb was normal and my ferratin levels etc were all ok.
The most distressing thing is my hair loss. I have lost around 70% of my hair, mainly from the back and crown. I'm self conscious about it and I'm struggling mentally to even touch my hair as it comes out in clumps. I am trying different vitamins and have spent a fortune on special shampoo and treatments.
I know in the grand scheme of things these are trivial, but I just wondered if anyone else had the same?
Hi LauBee
I'm sorry to read all that you went through but glad to hear you're recovering well.
I don't have any experience with this type of surgery but thought I'd suggest that you also post this in the liver cancer group, where I can see you've posted before, as you'll then connect directly with others who have had this type of surgery and may have experienced similar side effects.
Anne
