Hello everyone,
the title says it all, this is a thread for everyone at any and all hours of day and night, to post, help, laugh, cry and anything in between. There will be no nasty posts, everyone who joins in will be gentle, considerate and kind to everyone else. Hugs to all......xxx
Been ages since we had a day at the races,we usually have a night at the dogs & i've only ever won twice, first time it paid for my night out & second time it didn't even pay for a pint
xx
I know nothing about horses, so usually pick the ones that have nice names! We used to to to this meet most years if we were on holiday up here.i wasn't sure initially if I would cope going without Jon,mbut actually it was ok. In a strange way it felt comforting to be doing something we used to do together.
the horse that won was named after a whisky and I picked it because Jon used to drink whisky.
ive never been to the dogs.
I am glad you had a good time at the races. I have never been but it looks like fun
A girl after my own heart,i pick dogs & horses for their name especially if it's something that relates to a family member or friends name, when we go to the dogs we do it in the posh part,we go to the track at Peterborough & sit in the restaurant, they fetch your bets, bring your winnings & get your drinks from the bar for you,you only have to leave the table if you need a wee
xx
Think I've only ever been to the races once, got invited to Lady's Day at Ascot (posh, yup!) as hubs worked with people who wanted him to have a nice meal, we bet and went home a few pounds down (well, hubs bet, I didn't, just politely sat in my hat making small talk - exhausting!)
Never been to the dogs, there used to be a track a few miles away, went on a Sunday morning with a friend when they had a big car boot sale there......bought nothing! It's built on now, such a lack of building land here in the south. Lynda, at least you have land around the Lakes, Cartmel is pretty, I remember.
Gillian, please be kind to yourself, it's still early days after all.....
Hugs to you all xxx

Hahahaha, Sister Snail, I didn't think I did hats either, but borrowed one and it looked ok-ish!
No I'm not posh, though was 'brought up (dragged up, more like!) to speak proper' and I guess that gives folk the wrong impression, I'm just very ordinary!
I'll have a go at things, though! (not quite as many super-active things as I'm getting older!)
Hugs xxx

When my goddaughter got married i went with her mum to look at outfits etc & we almost got thrown out of a department store because we were laughing so much at me in hats, the big ones made me look all hat & the smaller ones made me look like a right prat,i have to wear a hat for work & i hate it but we all look the same so it's not so bad
We don't speak proper but we were always taught to use our manners & mind our p's & q's as my nana called them
I to will try most things once but i won't do anything that means me being higher off the ground than a footstool
xx
