Stupid tag thing not working properly, sorry.
Christmas has been nice with the family, but it was difficult visiting the in laws Sunday before Christmas, as he has dementia and we realised he doesn't now recognise us. Harder for my husband, obviously, as he adored his dad. Cancer isn't the only shitty disease.
Oh well, new year, new things to look forward to!
Morning all. Glad you both survived the festive season.
I had family here any my new man so it was an ok day. Nice that the boys feel comfortable enough to reminisce about Jon even with Joe around (and he is fine with that).
Today is the second anniversary of Jon's death, so I'm sitting with my memories. But I'm about to go the zoo with my son, did and baby. Then Joe is coming over to look after me.
Have a good day everyone.....there will be turkey curry in the kitchen later, and a bottle of good malt so you can join me in a toast to Jon at 8.10 tonight.
Morning everyone,
Rather a late morning as yesterday became our family Christmas Day and we also had our dinner very late, and played silly games too, afterwards, with drinks a-plenty! Lovely family time with lots of laughs, and gratefulness that daughter is as well as she is!
She's 39 now, (diagnosed at 26!) and we think a mid life crisis, or maybe a celebration of remission got to her, she's recently bought a VW van that she had converted to a motor caravan, we picked it up on our way north. So some of her presents were accessories for that!
So good to know you are safely through another Christmas, Lynda and Christine, and your new men are fine with your memories, it must be tough.......
Helen, dementia is indeed awful, so sorry your f-i-l is suffering with it, well I guess the rest of the family suffers more at that stage, coming to terms with him already having 'left' is most likely the only way of coping. We had an incident last night, a neighbour of daughter's has dementia, is still (just) at home, she left a pan on the cooker which got burnt, her alarm went off and the fire engine got automatically called. Fortunately all was well.......
I've left some mince pies in a lock&lock box, please help yourselves to them with morning coffee!
Hugs to all xxx

Hello all,
Glad everyone seems to have survived and thrived throughout the festive celibrations.
A very quiet one this year, at home with William, our first Christmas together since we got married. Not too much excess in either drinking or eating, but I'm sure I still gained a few pounds... - trying to lose the 4 stone I've put on now, since chemotherapy, and the steroids for the hormone mess I'm in, has to be one of my maim aims for the year to come, considering adopting carb free eating, as my hormone things mean I don't process sugars well, and diabetes is often a development in addition to my other hormone abnormalities, due to the malprocessing of carbohydrates in my condition... I'd really like to avoid adding diabetes to my increasing list of hormone problems!
I've started self-injecting the growth hormone now, and some slight improvements are I think happening, so fingers crossed this year coming might get my meds sorted out better. I've also increased my thyroid meds, as the low dose was making me so ill, - no doubt the consultant will be pleased I decided to do this... not...
hope you all have a good new years!- not long now.... I think this year, like last are both years I'd have prefered not to have happened, and would rather like to mainly try forget...
I've got some more minced pies here if anyone wants any! and some choclate shells too!
Happy New Year to all who pop into this gorgeous room!
The wood burning stove is doing a grand job today as in spite of the sun (so lovely to see!) it's chilly outside.
Sofa cushions are plumped up, fleeces ready for anyone feeling the need, kettle is hot, coffee machine ready, hot chocolate in the flask.....
Biscuits in the tin and fresh fruit a-plenty for those who have begun the year deciding to diet!
Hugs to you all xxx

Hi to you all, freezing here too, Sandra, it only just managed to melt the frost on the car this lunchtime (it was in the sun!) but it's freezing over again now!
Brrrr indeed.
At least it's toasty warm in here. Made some granola in case any of you sleep over, (!) and there's yoghurt and fresh fruit to add to it in the fridge! Granola is so easy to make, got a great recipe from a good friend!

What a difference a day makes! We did our usual shift at Bletchley Park and it drizzled most of the day, mild-ish but dank, grey and misty.
Still, it's lovely in here, I lit some of the scented candles too, and the room is gently smelling and soothing.
Some ham hock casserole if anyone feels really hungry, easy to warm through......and choccy cake in the cake container!
Hugs to all xxx
