    Hello everyone.

Congratulations on your sons engagement Lynda.  Hope you manage to get all your jobs done as well as move bit by bit.  Glad you had a nice holiday despite the wobbles.  Luna and Lucas will be very pleased you are home.

Have been reading the antics of the kittens Carol, they are always up to something, and can always bring a smile.  Hope you have a nice time tomorrow.

Gillian, hope you enjoy time with your sister and you are feeling ok after chemo.

Hope you are ok  Moomy and not too busy.

Hope you are all ok, Jakki, Mark and Christine.

Mick and I are plodding on day to day, but have had very bad colds which started to get better then returned, both ended up on antibiotics.  I have been busy with work and getting the garden ready for winter, always something to do.

Love and best wishes to all. Jasmin xx

    Hi Everyone!

Like a lot here I think, been busy, with, well I guess for me, returning to something that approximates 'normal' now my treatment has, basically all finished... - Still feeling some after-affects, though more and more I think, and as i read (I've a biology accademic background that helps),  I think a lot of this side affects I was origionally thinking all from the chemo/radiotherapy, might be more likely all connected with my weird hormones, a medical thing which is still playing out with the hospital (and more trips for endocrine fun yet to come)...

Had an odd one today... Was doing some 'sorting out' in the bedroom; basically trying to make wardrobe space for the new clothes that should be arriving soon, and I just worked at it today, logically, and cleared room, rearranged things, and made so much more space, mainly by rearringing stuff, and also discarding a few old items. Was so busy doing it, I didn't notice I'd missed my 1 PM hydrocortisone. As soon as I took it... I felt my brain change, and my spatial awareness dropped... A quick bit of research reveals impaired spatial  awareness/cognative ability, is a side affect of chronic cortisole/hydrocortisone. - going to discuss this with nurse Thursday when I get my next testosterone injection, to see if its worth trying to reduce my hydrocortisone dose, now I'm clear of chemo and I guess therefore more well, and maybe able to cope with a lower dose... - Things get so misty when it gets cross-hospital departments like this- guess I'm kinda lucky as I can work a lot of it out myself, as although I'm not from a clinical background, I'm from a research science/medical background accademically. - Of course, the chemo brain, and now perhaps these cognative affects of the hormones, doesn't help me think it all through proper!

Well. quite enough 'biology' there for one day.

More tidying now, I think, then a very early dinner/late lunch, and a shower, before I head out to ten pin bowling tonight - now, if only I could figure out how to bowl with my left arm, I might restore soem strength and movement in it, after it was radiated! (still hoping for physiotherapy at some point).

GP appointment later this week, plus the hospital visit Thursday for my testosterone intramuscular injection (I'm so lucky I don't mind injections!). Then no hospital for a while as far as I know.

Must finish researching some cooking today too; want to get a good recipie for goat curry; I've recently become a convert to Jamaican food, but its about time I learnt to cook it, rahter than just making my takeaway very rich!

Hope everyone else is doing OK, especially anyone with any treatments coming up.

    Hello one & all

Hope all are well as can be & have had the same lovely autumn day we had in Derbyshire

Oh Christine, had i known what was ahead i'm sure i'd have sent Ruby further away, she came for breakfast this morning & even a proper big whack from Polly & being put over the fence 4 times by Vince didn't stop her creeping round till she was eating with out girls, they did let her share but Vince said there was a lot of growling going on

You have been busy Mark, enjoy the bowling

Hope the colds are getting better Jasmin, they can certainly take a hold,i've had mine about a week now & it's starting to get a bit chesty,if it's no better in a couple of days i'll have a chat with the nurse

Congratulations on the engagement Lynda, that must have cheered you up no end

Dumb question while i'm here, has anybody suffered with dry skin in the ears & if you did what did you put on it

    Love & hugs to all

  • Hello everyone!

Typing this on the iPad from Portmeirion, on the first rainy day for months here......we are thoroughly enjoying it, the cottage is great, warm and comfy. We are both worn out, walked loads, went on the little free 'train' ( disguised LandRover with a couple of carriages) round a track through the headland, hubs and I decided the powered scooters might be able to take that with some pushing up the steep bits, and they did. So he is aching and well exercised!

After that I decided to walk right out to the 'lighthouse' and then on to the beach. Actually it is in a huge estuary so the beach isn't that safe, partly sand but partly mud and quicksand. Otherwise I'd have paddled! That was a good long walk, probably three or so miles, lots of hills and walked at a good pace, too.

Portmeirion, in case none of you know, was a site found by Clough Williams-Ellis in the 1900's and developed with sized down buildings to look like an Italianate village, and was famously used for the 1960's TV series, ' The Prisoner'. The village is great fun, we've thoroughly explored it once again ( been here before but only as day visitors) many of the buildings are now either shops, restaurants or holiday lets, all run by the charity itself,  we do want to try one of the others some time....

daughter has properly recovered from her shingles and tonsillitis, is actually at our place staying over to shorten her drive back to her place from London, where she was working. She has a busy schedule ahead and hopes her health will cope!

Havent read back, apart from this page....love to you all .....hugs xxx

    Hi All,

Hope you are feeling a little better Jasmin and yourself and Mick are managing to shake those colds.

Been really busy with three full days at work now and keeping up with my 'getting back to fitness' routine. Had a couple of blip days but think they may be steroid related. All in all I am feeling good.

Carol, aw you came to Matlock a week early, I was around too, next time!!!!! Never had dry skin in ears but I would try a bit of olive oil before bed. Love the tales of your kittens, you should write a book.

Moomy loving your pics on FB, what a fab place.

Lynda, wow, exciting news you must be really pleased.

Christine, Gillian and others hope you are well.

Mark ey up on here too, we meet on another thread lol.

Well must go got yoga then a swimming lesson, lunch with hubby if it fits with his work and a game of squash this afternoon.

    Take care all

    Love

    Jakki xx

    Hello my lovelies

How are we all doing today, weather here is cold & miserable,my mood is cold & miserable as i still have a cough & cold that'e making me miserable

We had a lovely day Jakki, such a shame we didn't get to see you, lots of wandering round the charity shops & you'll be pleased to know i've kept most of them in business for you, flipping heck girl just reading your plans for today has made me tired, you'll be glad of next weeks holiday

Hope you're enjoying your holiday Moomy & are having lots of rest as well as lots of walks,so pleased your daughter is now fully recovered

How are you & Mick doing Jasmin, hope you've got rid of your colds now

    Christine,Mark,Gillian & Lynda i hope you're all well

We've been & booked the hooligans in at the vet to get them spayed & chipped,we're hoping it will calm our little monster down but i very much doubt it,she just has the devil in her,not a day goes by when she doesn't get a slap from Polly for something (usually playing with her tail while she's with me having some fuss) even when she's doing nothing she manages to look like she's planning something,Medusa is an angel compared to Willow & loves to be fussed,we're still getting visits from Ruby even though her family are back home, she came for tea yesterday & breakfast this morning, can't believe how determined she is to join them,no matter how many times Polly whacks her or how much growling & moaning the other pair do she keeps coming back & sneaks her way in to share the meal,Polly had breakfast on her own today as she was late to the table & by the time she got here the 3 youngsters had eaten all the meat,i noticed she was first to arrive when we got home tonight

I'll get some olive oil & give it a go Jakki,i'm a right dried up old prune at the minute as i've now got such a sore nose as well,it was that bad lastnight i tried nivea lip butter to see if that helped

Well i really should go & get tea started, salmon with potatoes, veg & some sort of sauce tonight

    Love & hugs to all

    xx

    Hello all,

sorry i i have been absent...working. I did 26 hours in 2 days including travelling time which they also pay me for. So I'm home now...shattered.

Tomorrow ow I have another load of stuff to take to the new place, and the window man is fixing the locks at the front of the house...previous ownder had lost the keys. Plus I must pick up my prescriptions as I have just taken my last tamoxifen.

carol, your description of Ruby's antics made me laugh as usual. I think you might have trouble keeping her away, she certainly sounds persistent.

    hope everyone else is ok.
