Hello everyone,
the title says it all, this is a thread for everyone at any and all hours of day and night, to post, help, laugh, cry and anything in between. There will be no nasty posts, everyone who joins in will be gentle, considerate and kind to everyone else. Hugs to all......xxx
sorry to butt into your conversation. Sister Snail, . Big Country....wow. Are you going to Leeds or Sheffield in October, or somewhere else ? I am a really big fan. I saw them last month in Grimsby. I have followed them for 30 odd years. I have tickets for Nottingham in November and am hoping to get but I a just starting my chemo today so we shall see. By the way it rained constantly here yesterday. Hoping for better weather today ! x
Hi Moomy,
The BBMF was over here yesterday as we are not far from the BB memorial at Capel and just over the hill from Hawkinge. It's the Spitfire Merlin engine that gets me emotional but I also know what you mean about the Lancaster. Have you ever been to Harrington near Kettering? There's not much left of the airfield but it's where the carpetbaggers flew from dropping agents and supplies to the Resistance. The local pub has has some good bits and great beer.
I arranged for an American veteran to visit his landing ground near Le Muy in Provence a few years back. He landed on the 15th August 44 in fog on a stone wall, broke his ankle and passed out and was found the next day by a village boy collecting water from the stream. The village took him in, hid him in a wine cellar and was looked after by two girls until liberated. When we took him back, the local Marie gave him a hero's welcome and a grand reception including members of the Resistance, the local boy then in his eighties and one of the girls. They also had his combat knife and a piece of his parachute silk! Hugely emotional!. Look for the Chanson de Partisan on YouTube.
There is a lot more to the Jessie Davis story but don't want to ramble on. Got to sort out some problems with cloud based e-mail for the office then we are off to a Hospice coffee morning. Not sure about that.
Have a good day. Blue sky and sunshine here. I'm cooking bacon, eggs, mushrooms and toast this morning.
Keith
Morning all
Kieth your breakfast sounds so much better than my bowl of cereal, hope the coffee morning goes better than you're expecting
Thanks for the "kitten chop" info ladies, looks like we will be having 3 done as i've not heared from lady that wants Medusa
Hi Fifi, you can but in ant time, new faces always welcome here,i'm going to see them in spalding,it's only 10 mins from where we live,i'm going on my own as my Vince is not a concert sort of person, mind you i did get him to see UB40 last year but i think that was only because he didn't want me going to stamford on my own,he's a bit of an old worry wart sometimes,i'm so excited that i'm going, i've never seen them live but absolutely love their music,i hope you manage to get to see them,i'll have everything crossed for you, please let me know how you're doing
Weather here is glorious & i'm going to be indoors as i'm going to the cinema this afternoon to see inside out with the neighbours daughter, that sounds like i'm taking my little mate but the truth is the neighbours daughter is 19,wonder if we'll be the only people without little ones with us
Gosh Lynda, what a task getting those new curtains sorted, hope you find the material you like & somebody to do them for you,we're lucky as we only have normal size windows
Hope everybody else is as well as can be & are having a lovely day
Love & hugs to all
xx
Lynda, I hope you find ready-sized curtains or made to fit, as dealing with loads of material can be a pain first class! ( have done it, we curtained on the cheap when we moved in here!)
Fifi, no worries, this is a great thread, open all the time, for chats and light coversation, usually away from cancer! It's a lovely room, wide windows open to a beautiful garden, bifold doors for summer, a wood burner for winter, comfy chairs and sofas, and a mini kitchen where we can drop off wines, beers and lovely food for each other. Not only all that, but fairies to clean up too!
Keith, wow, that breakfast will keep your feet on the ground! No, haven't been there, but that place sounds fascinating to visit! I suspect we spend too long at BP and haven much energy spare to visit other fascinating places! Hope the coffee morning is better than you fear, hospices can do great open days!
Carol, cant wait for next week! Are you coming with a group/Vince/whoever? Hope you manage a vet discount for all the cats!
Hugs to you all xxx,
daughter drove back to her home late last night, really fed up with the roadworks and closed motorways! Wrote a stinking tweet to Highways authority! xxx
Moomy
Right, one pair of ready made curtains bought after much dithering over colour and design. I just need to hang them.
made to measure lady booked to come round and measure for the other two windows later. I decided they are such big windows I am not going to risk my measurements.
lno, im not making them. I too have done that in the past, prefer to pay someone to do the hard work now.
apologies for typos, im doing this on chrome on the I pad and it won't let me correct them.
waiting now for the man to come and measure up for wardrobes, plus two plumbers for quotes for new bathroom and central heating, and the curtain lady. I don't think much painting is going to get done today.
hope someone has out the wood burner, it's freezing here today.
Moomy
Hello again
Hope you've managed to get a rest Lynda inbetween all the people popping in & out with their tape measures etc
It will just be me & Vince on Tuesday Moomy,we're really looking forward to meeting you & having a look round,i love museums & places like Bletchley,we're not far from the battle of Britain memorial & we visit Conningsby & have a look round at least once a year, same planes but we always seem to get a different guide so we hear different stories every time we go,i also love looking at naval museums,my uncle was a submariner & he had many a tale to tell me when he was alive, one of my fondest memories was the first time we took the step to meet him,we went out for a meal & as we were having coffee this little voice said "Uncle Dennis, were you in any wars & did you kill anybody with your torpedoes" as they say, from the mouths of babes,i have managed to get some discount to get cats sorted, can't get it done free with spay watch but i like the vets they're sending us to & as there are three the discount will help,Polly can go asap & kittens when they're 4 months old
xx
Carol, will be in block B, with the real working Bombe......just come and say hello and I will take you both around!
Hugs xxx
Moomy
Evening All,
Lynda, good that you managed to get one pair of ready mades. We had to have our dining room and living room ones made to measure, no I have never attempted to make curtains(I struggle to sew on buttons!)
Hope everyone is well, how's things Jasmin?
Carol, bet getting three cats done will be expensive, hope they have a three-for-two on. Hope you enjoy your trip to Bletchly, we go to Wales on Saturday otherwise I would have gate crashed your day out!
Christine hope you are ok.
Keith, any time you are in Matlock feel free to pop in and make my breakfast.
Gillian how's it going?
