  • Sue, thank you, but it isn't today, it is on the 30th actually. My memory is rather shadowed by my Dad being so ill (he died a couple of months later, just a month before their Ruby anniversary) but he looks so happy though so ill and drawn on our photos, that I know he was happy for us.

    Hi Helen,

So sorry that your dear dad was so ill, but like Dianne I am so happy that he was able to be there for you both on such a special day.

    Have a wonderful anniversary.

Hope you have had a good day today, and of course as ever thinking of your dear daughter.

Biggest of hugs to you all.
    Love Maryxxxxxxxx
  • Awwww, everyone, bless you!

Just had an exciting time making jam! Strawberry jam, it tastes wonderful and looks as if it will set really well! Dot, its with the jam maker Lakeland are selling. I plan to go and pick crab apples and blackberries, I know a good place well away from the roads, they will make wonderful jelly. But that'll be at the weekend or early next week now....

my love and hugs to you all

Jam making?? How lovely.........memories of Mum again.........she always waited till my Sister and I were in bed then would start with the jam making............next morning there would be pots and pots of all types........... and a lovely big pan for us to scrape out for breakfast with lots of home-made bread and butter!!!!! YUMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a recipe for making a soft fruit jam (strawberry is best) without cooking the fruit.........it's lovely and fruity, but doesn't set hard.....and if it doesn't set at all is lovely as sauce over ice cream!!!!! It can be kept in the freezer till needed too!!!!!!
  • It really IS lovely, Dot, not too hard a set and so incredibly easy, it takes half the time and less worry about setting than the old way, doesn't make a huge quantity, so more suitable for our smaller kitchens with less storage than we used to have when I was a child, we had a big back 'kitchen' that was just used for storing in the cool, it was on the north side of the bungalow.

my love and hugs to all
