Feeling overwhelmed...

Hi, first time posting. I had a testicle removed in February due to finding an abnormalitie on an ultrasound, Dr couldn't say if it was cancerous or not so I made the decision to take it away. Biopsy came back 4 weeks later as cancer. Not required any treatment as the cancer was described as burnt out, so just monitoring currently but the questions are always there in my head. Will it spread? Has it spread?.

Every ache and pain i question and think the worse. The last 4 months have got to me emotionally and im currently off work while I sort my head out. Hence this post as im not the greatest at talking about my emotions and stuff.

Thankyou for taking the time to read this

  • Hello

A warm welcome to the online Community - although I am so sorry to find you joining us - I am Brian one of the Community Champions here on the online Community.

The Community is divided into cancer specific groups and I would advise you to join our testicular cancer group where you will "meet" others on the same or similar journey - here's the link that you need:

    Testicular cancer forum

Once you click on the link I have provided and the page opens click on "join" at the bottom of the page and you can then introduce yourself in the " New Here - Say Hello" section - you can copy and paste the post above or post something new.

We do have our support line for you on 0808 808 00 00 (8am to 8pm 7 days a week) it's worth giving them a call.

We have a couple of other groups you may consider joining and we do have this group

    Emotional support forum

And if you just want to chat with others affected by cancer (I have Prostate cancer) we chat away here:

Awake and up all night (even though it's evening!).

I hope the above helps - my son had a testicle removed in just the same circumstances so you are not alone! I know just where you are at this time!

If you need any further help or help in navigating the Community please do get back to me.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • I’m sorry you have to have this struggle. It’s very normal to think and feel that way after a diagnosis. It’s physically altering to go through surgery and mentally difficult trying to pretend you are simply back to normal. I am in my second battle with cancer and have quarterly PET scans to check the status and or progression in my bones. When I start to worry I remind myself that if and when there is a bad report I will have to deal with it but until that time it can wait. It’s not worth living in that fear until absolutely necessary. You can’t completely forget it’s an underlying issue but you can decide to protect your moments. I understand completely. Are you getting regular scans?

  • Hi, thanks for replying. I had a CT scan 2 weeks ago and have a 4 month review on the 4th August with the care team at Preston. Deep down I know the likely hood thats its spread or will spread are low but its always there in my mind. Ive suffered with anxiety in the past which probably isn't helping but the past 4 months have built to a point where I've started to struggle mentally. I know ill get there though...
