Dear All,

I'm new to this group. I found out i had a large gynaecological tumour on the 6th of February when I was admitted short of breath, with my right lung full of liquid. The treatment I have received from the NHS has been fantastic, and I cannot thank them enough. I have not been able to work since, and I am undergoing treatment so that I can have a second surgery to remove my tumour and complete a hysterectomy (the first surgery was unsuccessful, because the situation was far more complicated than they thought.

My friends and family have been extremely supportive, but i would like to connect with the macmillan community to gain strength and insight from patients with similar issues

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and I wanted to pop on to redirect you to a support group here where you'll find others with the same type of cancer to talk to.

Although you haven't said what type of cancer you have, I'm assuming from your mention of a" large gynaecological tumour" and having a hysterectomy that it's possibly womb cancer. If that's right then the womb cancer group would be a great place to connect directly with others in a similar situation to yourself.

To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

If I've assumed incorrectly then you could take a look through this list to choose the right group for you.

It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Hi

A warm welcome to the community. The community is divided into forums by cancer type, so I would recommend joining the specific forum most appropriate to your cancer type, where you can engage with people going through similar experiences. If I understand correctly this would be the Womb (uterus) cancer forum. Click on the link and then click on the button to join the forum. You can then post there and also respond to other people’s posts.

    I am a Macmillan volunteer.

I have metastatic Triple Negative Breast Cancer, in remission

  • Its a womb cancer, but not endometrial in origin.

  • Hi

While the womb group is probably the most appropriate group to join, given that you are facing a hysterectomy for cancer presenting in your womb, are you able to share the origin of your cancer with us?

If we know the type of cancer we may be able to suggest other groups to join which might widen the sources of support you could get from others.

Meanwhile, I hope you are coping with your current treatment, and can have a successful outcome from your surgery.

    Sarah xx

  • My case was reviewed last by the sarcoma multidisciplinary team, so that's the closest answer I can give you. My symptoms didn't present until I collapsed at work on the 6th of February. The tumour is very large 21 x 19 x 16 cm, and at the moment that is as much as I know.

  • Oh, that must be so difficult for you not having definitive answers yet. We have a group which might be helpful here-

    Soft tissue Sarcomas Forum

Members there might have experience of a sarcoma cancer in the womb, but the lovely ladies in the womb group do have a lot of experience of going through a hysterectomy and will be happy to support you.
