Hi Homebird and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and although I've not been referred for something on my brain, I know what an anxious time it can be waiting for results.
The online community is divided into different support groups where you can chat to others who are going through or have gone through the same thing. So that I can direct you to a group that would be best for you, can you tell me a little more about what you're being investigated for? For example, do your doctors believe this is a primary brain tumour or do you already have cancer and this might be a secondary? Alternatively, you can look through this list of cancer types to choose the right one for you.
Once you've joined a group, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
As I said, waiting for test results can be stressful so you might find this information about how to ease worrying when waiting for medical test results helpful. We all have different ways of coping and I find that trying to continue with my normal life as much as possible, plus doing things that I enjoy, helps me spend less time worrying.
Sending virtual (((hugs)))
Thanks Anne. I was originally referred for a routine (non urgent) MRI last May following a routine hearing test due to asymmetry in my hearing. Finally had scan mid Jan 26 & at follow up appointment with ENT was told my ears & associated nerves fine but something had shown up on my brain - it was very clear to see on scan. So sent for blood tests and MRI with contrast and urgent referral to Neurologist - this 1st appointment is on Weds. I live alone & feel very scared. I have good friends but don't want to be phoning them in middle of night when worries at worst. I now feel hyper aware of every sensation in my head - even though previously I'd not had any symptoms. My brother is coming with me on Weds but can't spend much time with me as we live about 300 miles apart. I will look at the link you gave above.
Hi
I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that whatever has shown up is nothing sinister.
If you're awake in the middle of the night and want to talk you can connect with others who are awake on the awake and up all night thread within this group. Clicking on the link will take you there.
I'm glad that your brother will be able to go with you to your appointment, two pairs of ears are always better than one.
I think it's natural to be more aware of your body when you are under investigations, I know I was.
Take care
