Hi everyone, I’m Wayne from the Online Community team.
Living alone with cancer can affect everything from the care you receive to the emotional support you need.
We wanted to create a Community space that reflects the realities of living alone with cancer and the ways people have supported themselves through different stages. We’d really appreciate hearing your thoughts.
If you feel comfortable sharing, it would be helpful to hear:
Thank you in advance for sharing your experience and support. If you have any questions, would like to be a guest blogger to share your individual story, or need additional support, please email community@macmillan.org.uk and we will be happy to help.
Best Wishes

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to check in and see how everyone is doing? As summer turns to autumn and the days start getting shorter, the change of season can sometimes make living alone feel a bit more isolating. Does anyone have any advice or gentle routines that help you cope or stay motivated as the nights draw in? It would be great to hear what is keeping you focused or comforted right now.
Best Wishes,
Wayne

Hi Wayne,I’ve been spending time in the garden with a robin for company. It’s been good to get back outside as I haven’t been well enough for gardening lately.Planning how to change the space so I can sit out more.Best wishes Jane
Hey Jane
It's great to hear that you've been well enough to do some gardening. If the sun is out, I find the autumn sun is so lovely to enjoy. That's fantastic, I think the Robin is one of my favourite birds to keep an eye out for There's always a couple that hang around my parents garden.
Unfortunately, I'm garden-less. Although there is plenty of ducks, swan's, and geese for me to enjoy along the canal
Best Wishes,

I was in that situation when I had melanoma, thankfully all cleared with surgery but left me definitely lobsided, if I was younger I would probably have made a fuss , but accepted it’s just vanity & I am alive, I am disappointed in the way I look now now but didn’t have the energy to take it further, it is different when you are alone, you need someone in your corner!
