Hi, last night I was awake for hours. I think it was because I received a letter about my osteoporosis has now become severe. Waiting to speak to my Dr about this. Having copd and lung cancer aswell it all became overwhelming. I really wanted to give up. I tried phoning many mental health and cancer phone lines, the only one open was the samaritans. After 30 mins hanging on I gave and just cried myself to sleep. I've tried to explain how I was and still feeling but they dont seem to understand and they're getting annoyed with me. I've advise them they can find helplines to help them to understand but they said they dont need help to understand. This all makes me feel so alone. That's why I join this group and I've applied for a cancer buddy.
Hi Rojam and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and I'm sorry to read all that you've been going through recently.
I hope that you don't have to wait too long to be paired with a cancer buddy. Is this through Macmillan? You might like to join the lung cancer group as you'll then connect directly with others who have the same type of cancer. If this is something that you'd like to do just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
Next time you're awake at night you could chat to others on the dedicated awake and up all night thread.
It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
