Wide awake

So, had my robotic prostatectomy yesterday afternoon and haven't been able to sleep.

Feel ok save for bloating. Took awhile to get pain under control. 5 in room including a patient with I think dementia, so the nurses are really busy.

Poor chap in next bed has to keep going to toilet and I'm right next to it.

I can sympathise and of course I have a catheter so in unusual position of not having to get up 4 or 5 times to pee.

Was my first GA and it is right about lost time. Anaethatist did take 20 mins to find a vein and had to use a portable ultrasound.

So sending good wishes to any fellow night owls - Matthew.

  • Hi Matthew

If it's any consolation I too can't sleep. I have a different cancer, breast. I am awaiting results of biopsies to decide on treatment plan. For me, it's the not knowing & imagining cancer has spread all over my body. I hope you soon get some sleep. I had a laparoscopic hernia repair 4 weeks ago. The bloating will settlenin a couple of days. It can be quite uncomfortable buy make sure you twke pain killers to help.ease this. Inwish you a speedy recovery in your journey. Also hope you get some sleep. Best wishes
