Alone at night and worrying

  • Hi

It's horrible when you wake up at night and can't get back to sleep because you're worrying.

A thread has been set up in this group called awake and up all night where you can chat to others who are also awake. If you feel like chatting there tonight, or any night, clicking on the link I've created will take you straight there.

I hope you get a more restful sleep tonight

    ((hugs))

  • Hi Sarah

Went to be about 12 and then woke up at 2am and been awake ever since. I hate this fear that grips. What is your situation?

  • Oh, that’s a long time for you to be awake-you must be exhausted. My story is in my profile, which you can read if you click on my name, but it’s very long! In a nutshell I was diagnosed with cancer in 2018, it came back in 2019, I’ve had treatment and surgery but all is well now although I have other issues to deal with hence not always sleeping myself!

  • So glad you are well. That gives me some hope. So scary when you are first diagnosed. I think waiting for scan results will be the hardest for me. How did you cope with yours?

  • I think waiting is one of the most difficult things to deal with and it didn’t really get any easier for me to be honest. I notice you haven’t joined any groups yet, so I’m not sure what your diagnosis is, but all of us will agree that waiting for results etc is very difficult. I did my best to keep busy, and do relaxation techniques which helped.

  • I am not sure how to join a group. I am new here of course. I have bowel cancer which shocked me as I only had an all clear colonoscopy two years ago. I read your story and wow you have been through so much! Not sure I would have coped with all of that but the will to live is powerful. I live on my own so no one to share my fears and help me through. My daughter lives close by but she has a little one and a job so trying not to involve her when I'm scared. I wish I could stop this constant shaking. What relaxation techniques did you use?

  • I get so scared sometimes even thought of calling the Samaritans.
