Are you having trouble sleeping?
Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.
“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

Excellent news Steve, and no need to be sorry for anything. You've had a rough time but things are on the up. Hopefully they'll keep heading that way xxx
Hi Eddie
It’s very true that ignorance is not an excuse, so it’s important for anyone applying for pip that they read the descriptors on the government website for daily living and mobility and assess how their life is impacted by their illness/disability against each one. My original award was also backdated to the date I’d phoned to request the form.
It’s been devastating not to be believed by the assessor at my review, and I think that’s the worst part of this for me. They have to prove I’ve got better and they can’t, but I can prove from the medical evidence I’ve provided that I’ve deteriorated in so many ways.
Good for you applying again Eddie and getting what you deserve.

Whatever gets you heard, Gill! I was penalised for not being withdrawn, and for engaging well.
The thing is, I was brought up to be polite and so to have her claim that not being hostile meant my life was brilliant was such a slap in the face. She really had zero empathy. It’s just wicked.

Indeed it is wicked Sarah, and those with viable claims should be heard. I've done the research, got pertinent letters and contacts gathered and shall be ready with a barrage of questions if they try to thwart me. I also believe pester power can be part of the armoury and won't stop till I get what I'm after - I know when to bring the shutters down on being polite. My OH doesn't need a voice in his case as he's got gob almighty in his corner.
Legislation would never come into force to allow this, but only those who fully understand and appreciate the difficulties of the genuinely afflicted should be making these decisions.
I'll put my soap box away now.
Have a lovely evening and hugs xxx
My assessor was a nurse, allegedly, but despite asking if she understood my surgery it was clear she didn’t. She kept going on about my colostomy…hello, I have 2 stomas! Maybe she should come on here and read my profile!
If you apply for pip and they decline it, you need to put a written request in for a “mandatory reconsideration”. I have a large “evidence bundle” and numerous appendices all cross referenced to challenge each point which is incorrect on the report. They make you jump through many hoops, and it’s tough, but it’s the only way.
I know if I get refused again (decision takes 15 weeks) then I’m looking at another year to get to appeal at a tribunal. Of course they stopped my money immediately on making their decision to take it away.
This process is a huge cost to the DWP-far more than it would cost just to re instate my award!

Sarah, it was one of the worst things I ever had to do, applying for PIP.
I know exactly what you mean about them not believing you.
Then it doesn't help when all the time on the news, people with disabilities get slagged off, and treat as if they are nothing.
I'd better get off my soapbox.
Take Care

Hi Steve
Sometimes we need to get on our soapbox because our voices deserve to be heard.
The sensationalist things in the media about benefit fraudsters keep the myth going that we are all on the fiddle, yet proven fraud as regards PIP is an absolutely tiny amount.
Sarah xx
If I'd have been you, I'd have brought up my profile on my phone, rammed it before the alleged 'nurse's' nose and demanded she read it! It makes my blood boil on your behalf.
I appreciate there's a lot to be done to beat the system, but I'm prepared to go the whole way and jump through hoops to get there. I don't care how long it takes but I'll keep going. I also have a very clever daughter who's conversant with these issues, so another string to my bow as she'll help. It's infuriating that folk like yourself are treat this way when some encounter no problems at all...
