Apologies if I have put this on the wrong forum .                My mum got diagnosed with stage 3 Laryngeal cancer in September 2024 after numerous tests , the outcome of the test showed that the cancer that she has is an aggressive form . After several hospital visits my mum was offered chemo/radiotherapy and had a feeding tube in her stomach fitted also . She has now finished her chemo and radiotherapy and visually her lump can not  really be seen but she still believes the lumps there . All through the treatment her peg feeds been giving her a-lot of discomfort but now she is able to eat solid foods again and is hoping to have it out , not sure of the time scale for this ? I understand you have to maintain weight which she is doing . I’d just like to know has anyone had any similar experiences ? I’d love to be able to support her more by understanding better about what’s going on . I understand everyone’s situation is different but I’d be grateful for any experiences anyone’s had and any advice . I really appreciate you taking time to read what I have written thankyou

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and although I haven't had the same diagnosis as your mum, I spotted your post.

As you know the online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the larynx cancer group and also the main head and neck cancer group as you'll then connect directly with others who have the same type of cancer as your mum.

To join, just click on the links I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could put something about your mum's diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
