So, last Friday I was informed that the 3 month post treatment MRI was showing all clear!

Saturday, my GP updates my records with my Qfit results:

Quantitative faecal immunochemical test (Xaf0H) 13.6 ug/g [0 - 10.0]
Above high reference limit; UKAS accreditation against ISO 15189 standards is pending for this assay.
Patients who are clinically high risk for lower GI cancer should be referred using 2 Week Wait without the need to use FIT.

FIT >= 10 ug/g with or without symptoms:- HIGH RISK - refer using 2 Week Wait colorectal pathway.

Is it possible that I am on my 2nd cancer this year?

  • Hi  I would love to help you out but as my cancer is completely different so most of this is a Double Dutch to me but I see that you have been posting in our Head and neck cancer support group,,,, why not copy and paste this into that group as it may open your question up to a wider group of people who have walked the same path.

The Macmillan Support Line is open 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00. This service provides cancer information, practical information, emotional support or just a listening ear.

We also have our Ask an Expert section but do allow a few working days for a reply.

Hope you get some answers soon.

  • Hi Mike73

The FIT test is offered in the UK  to 60-74 My husband has had many call backs as a precaution he’s had colonoscopy’s and other examinations ( not sure what it’s called ) resulting in IBS then Diverticulitis

I had one call back after taking the FIt and the colonoscopy, referral more investigations and Bowel Cancer

Blood in the poo doesn’t mean cancer but the guidelines say a two week window There’s many reasons a little blood may appear

So presumably you will get an appointment arranged within two weeks. They may phone you to see which hospital/ clinics best for you for a colonoscopy. If you have polyps they’ll be removed and tested.

Please try not to worry I know that’s easier said than done.
If it’s bowel cancer it’s really treatable and remember slow growing , 96% of positive FIT tests are not cancer

You can check out the bowel group here there’s lots of info

    Best wishes

  • I've had a call back yesterday.  Booked in for the 23rd... so not quite 2 weeks.. I'm sure there are reasons.

  • I was also seen within 2 weeks - let’s hope it’s nothing.
